No matter what production wasy grinding balls manufacturers choose, there are mainly five steps about cast grinding ball. There are Melting, Molding, Pouring, Separating and Heat Treatment.

Melting. For grinding ball manufacturers, most of them choose medium frequency induction furnace, which are not only fast& stable, but also high quality molten liquid for grinding ball production. The mainly raw material for cast grinding balls production is steel scrap, ferrochrome and other elements. This induction furnace is easy to add these material. After melting and before pouring, the workers shoud test the chemical composition by spectrograph to get the suitable chemical composition.

 

Molding. There are many ways to produce grinding balls. Such as, manual metal mold for big grinding balls, alloy sand box mold for smaller size balls production; Automatic grinding media ball production line; Green Sand Molding Line; Etc. These are all popular ones in grinding ball production.

Pouring. Usually, there are two pouring ways. One is automatic pouring machine, the other is pouring ladle. With the help of automactic pouring machine or the pouring ladle, pouring the qualitied molten liquid into the prepared mold. One-time pouring is necessary, if the last pouring is not be filled, then the formed balls, which we called it as discarded grinding balls.

 

Separating. To have high quality balls, there are runners and pouring gate in grinding ball production process. After the balls formed, they are also connected with the pouring gate and runners. Separating machine is the machines to separate the runners and pouring gates. There are also two methods. One is automatic separating machine and the other is separating machine. For automatic separating machine, it can produce ＞ 40mm balls, and its capacity can arrive 4-6 ton/ hour. This machine is more suitable for big grinding ball factories. For separating machine, the principle is that the friction between the grinding balls to come ture separation.

 

Heat Treatment Furnace. If say, formed balls production ways is the first importance for grinding balls production, then grinding ball heat treatment furnace is the second important for high quality grinding balls. Heat treatment can change the balls inner characterstics. Increase the hardness of grinding balls by quenching and reudce the inner stress of grinding balls by tempering furnace. About heat treatment furnace, it also has many types with different capabilities.
